Ecofirst Consult is fully qualified to assess buildings under the Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM). Pre planning, we are able to guide clients through BREEAM offering practical advice on how to meet the various sustainability goals, as well as how to meet any specific sustainability planning conditions and BREEAM ratings. Post planning, during the design and construction phase, we advise on how projects can meet both design stage and post construction certification. Finally, we certify the buildings through the Building Research Establishment (BRE). We can also assess domestic properties against the Code for Sustainable Homes (CSH).
BREEAM 2011 UPDATE: BREEAM New Construction 2011 is now live, and replaces the BREEAM 2008 scheme documents. The consolidated technical guide covers 49 issues spread across the nine environmental categories, each with its own criteria defining a relevant standard of performance. It acts as single reference point for new build projects, covering BREEAM Commercial, Education, Healthcare, Prisons, Law-Courts, Multi-residential and 'Other Buildings' making life easier for client, design team and the assessor. By-in-large the minimum standards remain unchanged and BREEAM will continue to certify buildings as either, PASS (30%), GOOD (45%), VERY GOOD (55%), EXCELLENT (70%) or OUTSTANDING (85%). However, new or updated benchmarks and assessment methodologies have been set. We look forward to registering new projects under the new and improved BREEAM 2011. BREEAM 2011
